Middle of May Comforts of Home Newsletter
Welcome to our first e-mail from our COH website. Please feel free to forward this newsletter to your fellow sister (brother!) quilters! Before I forget, please add us to your e-mail address book so this newsletter doesn't end up in your junk mail!
Having said all that, you may ask us what COH has been up to lately?
Well, Trish just came back from the Wishek Homespun Quilt Show. It is always nice to see everyone down south of us, and see what is going on in their neck of the woods! Trish said you should have seen their beautiful Sunflower Fields Quilts by The Quilt Patch... here is the website where you can click on (at the bottom of this newsletter.)
Wonderful news! My sister, Darci Hartman Grager aka Octobers Child has decided to come out of retirement, and will begin quilting again! She uses a long arm quilt machine, but it is still free handed and not computerized! Here is her address: firstname.lastname@example.org. She lives in Sykeston, ND, but if you contact her, you can arrange to drop your quilts off here at COH and she will get them! You heard it first here on our website! :)
You like to read? We have a series of books by Marie Bostwick available here at COH. Her first book is titled "A Single Thread", as well as the most recent published book written by her "Ties that Bind". Of course you should have guessed it has a quilters story in the series as well! I couldn't put it down until it was finished!
Quilters tip from Trish today goes right along with our Thurs. Block of the Month! She has the Precision Trimmer 6 highly recommended by the author of this year's quilt project. Use this nifty, multi-purpose, 6-1/2" Rotary Cutting Ruler to make those perfect squares required in our BOM quilt. Some of our sister quilters from Carrington were here and simply raved about it, so it is now available here if you are interested! www.MarshaMcCloskey.com
We also got the Binding Tool back in that we were out of...it helps you finish the two binding tabs off at the end of your quilt simply and with no guesswork. Come on in and see it! It works fantastic!
What are your plans for the summer? Come on into Jamestown for the "Junkin Cousins" at the Stutsman Co. Fairgrounds on June 30th, and while you are in town, complete the day with a visit to COH. The coffee is always on!
We are always open to suggestions for upcoming classes, so don't hesitate to send them our way if you have an interest or an idea.
We have the most helpful, friendliest shop around. In a tough spot with one of your projects? Bring it in and our friendly staff will give you hints to help you out!
here is the website for that Sunflower Fields pattern in Wishek... www.thequiltpatch.ca
Enjoy the garden, the weddings, the graduations, but don't forget to sew at least 30 minutes a day!
